MEDIA RELEASE 1

Walkabout Australia invests in our Royal Shows.

From inner city suburbs to outback towns, Australians are coming together to celebrate, promote and connect Indigenous talent to wider Australia and the rest of the world, with help from the National Indigenous Cultural Centre and Walkabout Australia.

The National Indigenous Cultural Centre is an Indigenous owned charity that aims to become the number one indigenous e-commerce portal to the world. Walkabout Australia is a division of NICC and is an indigenous events and promotion company focused on creating the connections, opportunities and platform to promote Indigenous talent and enterprise, physically at events, all around Australia. In 2023 Walkabout Australia travelled over 20,000 km and attended Royal and Regional shows around Australia promoting Indigenous talent, bush tucker, experiences, and enterprise, to over two million “mates”.

The 2023 Walkabout Australia tour provided valuable direct market feedback and a solid foundation. In June 2024, the National Indigenous Cultural Centre and Walkabout Australia launched a fundraising campaign for their 2024/5 tour where all donations of $52 or above will be eligible to win 8 nights on country for 8 people in Alice Springs. This campaign has attracted philanthropic $1 for $1 support for all funds raised up to $52,000. The $52 donation enables free ongoing life membership and an ongoing 20% discount off all www.nicc.org.au shop products.

NICC also seeks sponsorship and donations from corporations and philanthropists to enable the 2024/5 Walkabout Australia tour and further development and growth of the National Indigenous Cultural Centre.

MEDIA RELEASE 2

Walkabout Australia and the Royal Shows – working together for all Australians.

Over the past five years Australians have been exposed to unpredictable challenges which have caused significant changes to the everyday lives of every single Australian forever.

The world as we knew it will never be again, rather than mourn the loss of what once was, the National Indigenous Cultural Centre and Walkabout Australia believe we must now stand together as Australians and focus on preserving what we can and creating what could be if we put our consolidated energies into the development of opportunities that enables better understanding, connection with each other and with our national Indigenous culture, food, talent, and languages.

In June 2024, the National Indigenous Cultural Centre and Walkabout Australia launched a fundraising campaign for their 2024/5 tour where all donations of $52 or above will be eligible to win 8 nights on country for 8 people in Alice Springs. MEDIA RELEASE 3

The National Indigenous Cultural Centre offers 8 days for 8 people – glamping with elders around Uluru and surrounds = good thinking?

Somewhere in the middle of the Australian outback, two people from two vastly different worlds sat on top of a hill, they watched the sun come up and then made a promise to each other to work together with the objective of making a positive difference to Indigenous Australians. One was Tony Clemenger, the other was Kelly McPherson. Together, over the next few years, Tony and Kelly have worked hard with many other volunteers, to create a unique and empowering platform which enables the positive promotion of Indigenous culture, talent and enterprise to Australians and the rest of the world, without politics. This unlikely collision of souls on top of that hill in the Australian outback that day has created a unique and complimentary partnership that has enabled the National Indigenous Cultural Centre Indigenous, now an indigenous charity owned 100% by it’s indigenous members where are surplus funds go into the delivery of primary school indigenous language programs. Walkabout Australia is a division of NICC and an indigenous events and promotion company focused on creating the connections, opportunities and platform to promote Indigenous talent and enterprise. The Walkabout Australia logo, designed by Kelly, symbolises walking together, friendship, culture, and love. In 2023 Walkabout Australia travelled over 20,000 km and attended Royal and Regional shows around Australia promoting Indigenous talent, bush tucker, experiences, and enterprise. The 2023 Walkabout Australia tour presented to, entertained, fed and educated over two million Australians at the Darwin, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne Royal Shows. In June 2024, the National Indigenous Cultural Centre and Walkabout Australia launched a fundraising campaign for their 2024/5 Walkabout Australia tour where all donations of $52 or above will be eligible to win 8 nights on country for 8 people in Alice Springs.
